This project is to design a new public library for the Shockoe Bottom neighborhood in downtown Richmond, VA. With the design of a short perimeter wall around the site, an enclosed-open space was created -- an enclosed space that exclusively belongs to the library with a unified horizontal view of this concrete perimeter wall, and also an open space that’s accessible to the public with the view of all the different facades of other surrounding buildings.
